Pre season tour is pretty much all sorted. We have matches against 3 Premier League teams from up north. We will travel up to Stoke on Thursday 16th April – it will be an early departure from Hampshire, which I know you all love!! We travel miles and miles upwards until we hit Stoke. We will then be faced with a 40 over match against JG Meakin, the club home to Danni Wyatt. A sleep in Stoke and we head towards Birmingham on the Friday morning for a training sesh at Edgbaston. We then make our way to Worcester to play Pershore in a T20, followed by a jacket spud before we continue our travels to Oxford. Saturday 18th we will play an Oxford county side in a 45 over battle. The next fixture venue on Sunday 19th will not make logical sense to a few of you, but as most of my team are blissfully ignorant when it comes to UK geography, we will just tell you that Loughborough is on the way home from Oxford, and you will never know! – Yes that’s correct, we are very fortunate to secure a 45 over fixture against Loughborough, which is the hot bed for women’s cricket in the country, and will be a fantastic test for us ahead of the Premier League in 2015. I think Ellie and co. are sorting out tour shirts, but you will also need to bring your green training shirts and full whites. We will roam the country in a 3-car fleet. Sally and Phil are taking their cars, and for the third car, Tayz and I are sharing the driving of a hired 7-seater – it is in this vehicle that you will find the best tunes…which brings me onto the next point. For this tour I have emptied my ipod of all the classical music and Shakespeare audiobooks I usually listen to and am currently putting together a tour playlist, so let me know any tracks you want added! I’m not gonna lie, 4 continuous days of cricket, lots of driving and budget hotel sleepovers with my girls is going to be absolutely shattering for an old bird like me….but I cannot wait, I can’t think of any better way to prepare for the summer season. Absolutely buzzing.
