Gemma came through the HP ranks as a successful junior, also representing Hampshire from an early age, and being one of the early intake to the ECB’s Emerging Players Programme, primarily as a left-arm bowler. As bowling took an increasing strain on her back Gemma developed into a more than useful batter, and became the second HP centurion (and first by a left-hander) when she reached the landmark in a Hampshire League game at Aldershot in 2010, sharing an opening partnership of 190 with Frankie Barber. Injury and academic studies restricted Gemma’s appearances in the ensuing years, but she was a member of the 2nd X1 that won the Hampshire League in both 2013 and 2015. Her alliance of 202 with Sian Edwards in 2015 remains the highest partnership for the club in the Hampshire League.

Gemma graduated from Bath University, where she captained the women’s cricket team, and is currently a Secondary School Maths Teacher. She does not have much time for cricket now, but has played some games for Alton in the past couple of summers. Her fondest memory of playing for HP is unsurprisingly her century and massive opening partnership with Frankie at Aldershot.
