Charlotte Taylor made her debut for us in 2009 and, apart from missing a season and a half with a serious injury, has been a permanent part of the club ever since. She is our leading all-time run-scorer, being the first to pass the 3,000 mark during the 2020 season, and is also third in the all-time wicket takers list. A genuine all-rounder, she has picked up both the batter and bowler of the year awards as well as overall player of the year and player’s player (3 times), and has completed the double for the club on four occasions.

In our Championship winning side of 2012 Tayz scored three half-centuries including 91 in the title-clinching win at Hastings (click here to read more about that match), and also took nine wickets as a right-arm seamer. She worked on transitioning to an off-spin bowler over the next few years and that is now her modus operandi.

She continued to score runs and take wickets as we moved up to the Premier league and scored a memorable 89 when we defeated Bath for the first time in 2015. In 2016 she recorded two centuries for the club, the second being an innings of 152 against Hayes which remains our highest individual score, and formed a partnership of 255 with Dani Ransley. She missed much of the 2017 and 2018 seasons through a serious knee injury, but on her return for the back end of 2018 turned in match-winning performances with the ball at Ansty (4-34) and with the bat at Bishop’s Stortford (88). In our record-breaking year of 2019 Tayz was again a key member of the 1s as we won the Premier League and Kia Summer Smash.

A regular player for Hampshire throughout the age groups and seniors, in 2020 Tayz was called up to the Southern Vipers squad and went from being a star at HP to being a star on the national stage, as she produced a match-winning 6 wicket spell in the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy final at Edgbaston, which was broadcast live on Sky TV.

She has been on every HP overseas trip, and holds the distinction of having recorded half-centuries in Denmark, Ireland and Spain. In addition Tayz has been a regular in our indoor sides, picking up 16 indoor titles, including being part of our National Indoor winning team in 2015. She also now coaches our junior girls.

Charlotte Taylor is undoubtedly one of the players that our club has been built upon in recent years.
