Chandlers Ford- based Ellie joined her local club in 2010 and made a senior debut when still short of her thirteenth birthday. A quick bowler for her age she had the matching fast-bowler’s temperament which led to her nickname of ‘Angry’, mostly directed against herself rather than the opposition!

Ellie became a regular wicket taker in our Hampshire League side, helping us to the title in 2013, and by the following year had broken through into the first team. Always fitting in well with the older players she went on the club’s visit to Denmark in 2013 as a sixteen-year-old. Unusually for a quick bowler her better spells were normally with the older ball in the middle of innings, but it was as an opening bowler that she ran through the Bath batting line up in the final game of the 2016 season, returning 4-17 in a close fought win.

Ellie went off to Loughborough University to read History and Politics, and benefitted from the cricket programme there, becoming Chairperson of the Cricket Club in her final year. She still played regularly for HP whenever possible during this period, and on returning full time in 2019 was once again instrumental in a Hampshire League winning season, as well as playing in the memorable Kia Summer Smash at the Oval.

In 2020 Ellie was HP’s bowler of the year for the third time and in late August dismantled the Alton line up with figures of 7-14, the best return in the history of the club and the first time any bowler has taken seven in an innings.

Ellie has now sacrificed some pace for greater consistency, however she remains one of the fastest bowlers at the club. Her batting can be explosive, albeit with limited opportunities, and she has made some important contributions down the order over the years. She also has a strong arm and is a quick, athletic fielder.

Since joining Ellie has become an integral factor in the club’s development, being a regular indoor player when not at university, as shown by being part of five successive league winning teams at Dummer. She is also now involved in coaching our junior players, and generally helps the club out in whatever way she can. We are also lucky to have mum Pauline as one of our valued scorers.
